Workers Memorial Day
Dear Local 3 RWDSU Members,
On Workers Memorial Day, we at Local 3 honor the working people who have tragically lost their lives to the COVID-19 virus. This crisis has impacted us all, and some have paid the ultimate price providing essential services to the public during this critical time. Local 3 officers, staff and members join the entire labor movement in honoring those we have lost and their families.
Please watch this video memorial for our RWDSU brothers and sister that we lost to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please be safe, and continue to take care of each other.

An Important Message from Your Union About Benefit Premiums
Dear Local 3 RWDSU Members.
Please be advised that the COVID-19 Store Closure Letter of Understanding Number 2 between Local 3 United Storeworkers and Bloomingdale's/Macy's Inc. states "The company will pay the full cost of the benefit premiums beginning the week of April 5th for the duration of the store closure period."
This means that the company will cover 100% of the cost of the premiums during April and May if needed.
This includes coverage for any dependents currently enrolled.

A Message From Your Union: We Are Here To Help
Dear RWDSU Local 3 members,
We want to make sure you have all the information you need as we go through the shut down of the Bloomingdale's store due to COVID-19, and the furlough of Local 3 members. The New York State Department of Labor has put together a FAQ for workers who need to access government benefits, including but not limited to unemployment insurance. Please click here or on the button below to view the document.
Additionally, the RWDSU has created the COVID-19 Resources Hub, which is being continually updated with the most recent information about COVID-19 and how to get all the benefits you are entitled to. The hub, which is hosted at the RWDSU website www.rwdsu.org, contains information important to Local 3 members and representatives. Visit the hub for information on health and safety during this crisis, aid and resources for affected workers, and the government benefits that are available.

Statement From RWDSU President Stuart Appelbaum On Bloomingdale's/Macy's Inc. Furlough Announcement
“RWDSU members at Bloomingdale’s/Macy’s Inc. are covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Two weeks ago we negotiated historic provisions for workers that expire on April 1st. Critically it included plans to negotiate future terms, which we are still doing. Bloomingdale’s/Macy’s Inc. needs to do much more for its employees than what they have announced so far -- and we are pushing them to do that. They will be judged in the future by how they treat their employees now," said Stuart Appelbaum, President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU).
An Important Message From Your Union About The Bloomingdale's Store Closure
March 20, 2020
To all Local 3 Union Members.
After lengthy discussion with the Company we were able to reach an understanding on an Emergency Covid-19 Store Closure Agreement concerning this two week period.
This agreement provides all Local 3 members with options and wage reimbursement at your vacation rate of pay as outlined in the agreement. You can either put in for PTO time to cover the shortfall in your schedule or you can apply for the New York State partial unemployment benefit, which we advise you to do immediately.
This agreement only covers the two weeks of this initial announced shut down. At this time we cannot say with any certainty what will happen at the end of this two week period.
In good faith we have to advise people to be prepared for this closure period to be extended.
This COVID-19 pandemic is so serious that what we know now, can change in five minutes.
We continue to be in constant discussion with the Company and will advise you further as information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Cassandra A. Berrocal
President Local 3
