Membership Meeting - Monday March 19th

Come out the Local 3 membership meeting on Monday, March 19th! Sessions will be held at 4:30pm and 6:30pm. The meetings will be in All Saints Church, 230 East 60th Street, between Second and Third Avenues.  On the agenda will be Local 3 issues, 2018 RWDSU Convention Update, and Good and Welfare.  

Do You Need Help Paying For Childcare?

Come to a meeting on Friday, March 9th! You may qualify for financial help through your union! Representatives from the New York Childcare Coalition will be at Bloomingdale's to answer all your questions about qualifying for childcare benefits. Your Union Representatives will also be present to assist you. Hundreds of your fellow union members have already received thousands of dollars through this special childcare program through the RWDSU. The application process is simple. Be sure to stop by during your break!  

Free Tax Preparation Workshop!

Local 3 members are eligible for a free workshop to help with your tax preparation.  Tuesday, March 13, and Thursday, March 29 9AM - 6PM Please remember to bring the following: Social Security cards for you, your spouse and dependents An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) assignment letter may be substituted for you, your spouse andyour dependents if you do not have a Social Security number Proof of foreign status, if applying for an ITIN Birth dates for you, your spouse and dependents on the tax return Wage and earning statements (Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc) from all employers Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099) All Forms 1095, Health Insurance Statements (1095-A, 1095-B, 1095-C) Health Insurance Exemption Certificate, if received A copy of last year’s federal and state returns, if available Proof of bank account routing and account numbers for direct deposit such as a blank check To file taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms Total paid for daycare provider and the daycare provider’s tax identifying number such as their Social Security number or business Employer Identification Number Forms 1095-A, B or C, Affordable Health Care Statements Copies of income transcripts from IRS and state, if applicable  

23rd Quadrennial RWDSU Convention

You are hereby notified that the 23rd Quadrennial Convention of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union will convene from Thursday, March 1st through Sunday March 4th, 2018.  Furthermore, you are hereby notified that the Eighth Regular Convention of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union will convene beginning Monday, April 23rd and concluding on Friday, April 27th, 2018. This will serve to inform you that nomination of delegates to the convention shall take place on Monday, January 22, 2018 at All Saint Church, 230 East 60th Street, New York, New York, 4:30pm and 6:30pm.

Bloomingdale's Workers Ratify Historic Contract

Contract Includes Company Recognition of Commission Losses from Online Sales and Will Help Pull Workers Out of Deficit to the Fortune 200 Company.   Today, Local 3 members of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU-UFCW), who work at Bloomingdale’s iconic 59th Street flagship store, ratified the first ever contract that recognizes workers struggling with diminished wages from online sales over the past five years. The hard-fought contract, which was settled nearly 13 hours after expiration on the afternoon of Monday, May 1, acknowledges the increasing number of non-sales tasks that workers have been asked to do since the company began pushing customers to shop online in 2012.    Continue reading
